Intro to House Snakes
House snakes are a 2-4 foot long colubrid snake that is native to Africa. House snakes can be found in a variety of colors and patterns like Blacks, Browns, Greens, Reds, Albinos, Granites, Stripes and more. Living 15+ years in captivity, these are a long-term pet. We recommend them for keepers of all experience levels.

House Snake Care
House snakes readily feed on rodents weekly, starting on pinkies as babies and adult mice into adulthood. Decorating their enclosures with foliage, caves, and logs will help them feel safe and offer enrichment. The minimum terrarium size for an adult house snake is a 40 gallon tank. They do well with a hot spot of ~90 degrees F, an ambient temperature of 75 degrees F, and a humidity level of 50%. This humidity level can easily be achieved with a water bowl and proper substrate like Eco Earth, ReptiSoil, or Coco.

House Snakes For Sale in the Pet Trade
Due to their ease of care and variability, house snakes are currently growing in popularity. They are usually available as Wild Caught Animals, but are starting to be bred commonly in captivity. Though imported animals may have a negative stigma, these are brought in legally with proper paperwork and in quantities that are allowed through governing laws. If you are a breeder looking for a new project, this one is for you!
